The Paint Shop

The building was located facing the Galle road and client had rented the property. The scope was to uplift the façade and do the interior design for a paint shop. The limited floor areas were one of the main limitations for the client for the scope of the project intended. Maximizing storage in an orderly manner was one of the main architectural tasks. Due to chaotic context, the architect implemented a rustic design in a more orderly manner, using a contrasting rustic language. The rustic effect helped the store to boldly blend into the context while the organized architectural language allowed it to faintly stand out. The addition of foliage on the façade brings in life to this monotonous and busy surrounding. The experience path in the middle gives a customer an unique ambiance while they can look deep in to the product range. The choice of materials provides long-term durability and the need for less maintenance, allowing it to go age with time. Also usage of alternative material solutions significantly cut down the cost. The bright pop-of colour aided in brightening up the interior against the rustic outlook, creating a livelier and workable environment for both the staff and the customers. Materials used were recycled and reused, true to their natural qualities, adding a texture to the architectural aesthetic.
