Private Residencies - Honorable MentionFern Serenity: A Retreat of Connection and Nature "Fern Serenity" is a newly built family retreat located in the serene tea plantations of Pussellwa, nestled amidst the mountains with tranquil surroundings. L-shaped land is situated at the edge of the estate, offering views of the forest and a glimpse of the nearby mountains. Though close to a busy road, the site benefits from its strategic position for hosting guests and enjoying both sides of the L-shaped layout. The design combines the traditional estate bungalow style with modern, open-plan interiors. From the roadside, the house presents a solid, robust façade with rubble walls and a distinctive roof, blending seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Inside, the space is designed to flow freely into nature with abundant glass openings, timber doors, and windows, allowing for uninterrupted views of the forest and mountains. Verandas, terraces, and balconies encourage connection with the outdoors, perfect for family gatherings and relaxation. The neighborhood plays an integral role in the property's development, with locals assisting in the construction, tea plucking, and even hosting guests with homegrown, local foods. The interior is thoughtfully crafted with natural materials such as rubble, reused bricks, titanium-rendered walls, and distressed timber finishes, creating a rustic, human-friendly atmosphere. The garden retains native tea plants alongside vibrant flowering and fruiting flora, enriching its sustainable aesthetic. Fern Serenity is a harmonious blend of heritage, modernity, and familial warmth—crafted to inspire connection and tranquility.
