“Tropical Allure – The frangipani House”

Color Awards - 2024

Padukka, Sri Lanka

Honorable Mention

The villa Frangipani, a 65+ year old abandoned ancestral property converted into a leisure villa, sits on a 60 perch land in a quiet and tranquil neighborhood in Padukka, surrounded by interior forests of rubber and coconut plantations and beautiful waterfalls which the colour pallete was inspired by. As a renovation project; the new additions were done with minimal structural interventions, with the goal of seamlessly blending in the abode to its natural surroundings.Inspired by the deteriorated state of the existing house, the refirbishment was carried out to evoke a refined rustic ambiance. The intentional selection and fusion of the colors, materials and textures reveals its relevance to the context and this can be observed in each space.
