34th Floor, The Residence, Cinnamon Life, Justice Akbar Mawatha, Colombo.

Merit Award

This three-bedroom apartment at Cinnamon Life – City of Dreams, located in the heart of Colombo, is a tranquil urban retreat and second home for a Swedish-British couple and their teenage son. Offering sweeping views of the Indian Ocean and the emerging Port City, the apartment is an embodiment of luxury living at Sri Lanka’s premier integrated resort, known as a hub for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, and Exhibitions) and a magnet for expatriates and foreign investors. The interior was designed to reflect the family’s Scandinavian and British heritage while serving multiple functions: a serene family space for weekends, a welcoming environment for visiting relatives, friends, and business associates, and a sanctuary for their teenage son to relax and entertain his peers. The design balances contemporary sensibilities with rustic warmth, emphasizing natural tones, layered textures, and bespoke elements. From ambient lighting to custom furnishings, every detail contributes to a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Rattan accents, soft linen bedding, and floral patterns add character and charm, enhancing the “lived-in” feel. Close collaboration with the clients ensured that every aspect of the apartment was meticulously detailed, from architectural elements like flooring, walls, and ceilings to custom-designed furniture and lighting. Each piece was thoughtfully crafted to meet the envisioned design concept, with regular factory visits and careful selection of materials to ensure impeccable quality and finish. This hands-on approach culminated in creating a home that is not just functional and stylish but also deeply personal and unique.
